Topic – Uses of data science in Economics and Finance

Description of the workshop topic

Systems ranging from an economy to financial markets can be described as ‘complex systems’ as they are dynamic, evolving, emergent and interconnected. There exist a wide variety of quantitative and qualitative behaviour that complex systems demonstrate, making it increasingly difficult to decipher them. In this workshop, we will take a data science approach to understand complex socio-economic systems, and use interdisciplinary techniques such as machine learning, network theory, agent-based modelling, etc.
