Seminar Topic – Data Economics and Public Good
Abstract – Digital technologies have given rise to a new combination of big data and computational practices which allow for large data collection and sophisticated computational modelling.
Government is looking to use this for increasing governance capacity and effectiveness. Private entities are looking to use the data to carry out highly sophisticated campaigns of persuasion and marketing. In other words, this digitalized data, containing public as well as anonymized personal data, is a disruption in the economics and marketing space. The talk will examine
the economic and legal disruptions generated by this market-based data exchange and discuss the new policy structures coming in India for the same.
