Abstract Of the talk: Big Data is the new natural resource – data is doubling every 12-18 months. Big Data is defined as data that cannot be managed using traditional tools. Organizations have a big challenge in dealing with the growing volume, velocity, variety, and veracity of data. They can ignore it and risk being buried under the mountain of data or, they can extract value from it for competitive advantage. The range of business applications of Big Data spans individuals, organizations, cities, governments, and almost all industries. The nature of Big Data requires cooperation and collaboration at all levels in organizations and society. The seminar was focused on Big Data frameworks, architecture, sources, applications and essential Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, MapReduce, HBase, Spark, Hive, and Apache Kafka.
